put off, and both parties must be put to the expence of bringing their Witnesses how numerous [ILL], again another time; And be it always remember’d, that this most mischeivous Doctrine, is now newly asserted meerly for the Purpose of turning Mr. Uvedale out of Possession of his Office of Clerk of the Crown. And that was done to give that place to Mr. Johnson a favorite of Mr. Justice Chambers, and to secure to the Cheif Justice almost certainly by his casting Vote, [ILL] gift or sale if he pleases, of all the Offices of the Court, for any One Judge joining him in any nomination will do it. Impey avow’d that the design of the casting Vote, was to give him all the Patronage, and lately, since they turn’d out Mr. Uvedale, I was talking to Chambers about the claim of the Chief Justice concerning the use of the Seal and was saying to him, if that claim was allow’d it would be giving him the whole authority of the Court, Chambers said perhaps it was the [intention?] of the Minister to give all power to the Cheif Justice, in compliance with the notions which prevail [ILL] all Departments in this Country:
