Him and deposed on oath that he had compared the above written extract with the regr of Baptisms in Falmouth Church & that it was a true copy. On this is endorsed a Certif of a Not Publ that the sd N.S. is Mayor of Falmouth & a J of Peace.

2. An Affidavit on stampt paper, made by Statira Sadlington, widow of John Sadlington late of London deceased, (formerly the wife of Joseph Shelburne [so written & not Sherburn] who was Commander of the Hanover packet boat from Falmouth to Lisbon, & which said Jos Shelburne in his lifetime usually whilst on short resided at Falmouth,_ who maketh Oath & saith that she is the natural and lawful mother of Joseph Shelburne, now or lately resident at Calcutta in the Kingdon of Bengal in the East Indies, who was born at Falmouth aforesd in lawful Wedlock & in the life time of the said Joseph Shelburne his father, on the 19th March which was in the year 1751, old stile.

This is not authenticated by the City seal, but instead there of T.A. a notary publ certifies under his hand & seal that the signature R. Clark is that of the Ld Mayor of London. And then T. Morton secretary to E.I.C. certifies, under his hand, that T.A is a notary publick.
