Had inform’d the Defendant the consequence would be that the Cause would be tried ex parte, but the Defendant would not authorize him to make any defence.
I John Hyde, guess that the reason the Defendant would not have any Defence made for him, was that he thought if any Judgment was pronounced against him he should be protected from the Execution by force because he did not live in Calcutta.
A very trivial Battery was proved
