No. 7. Punchanund Ghose.
This Wts says that in 1186 he was a writer under Joy Singh who was Khazanchy.
Goorgong & 7 other farms (naming them as in the Plaint) were farmed by the Plf; and in one of them called Sonacoly there is a gunge called Fackeer gunge. Plf put these farms under the care of Hurryram Baboo, & he put Murteza Gunge under the care of Joy Singh Khazanchy Hurry ram continued in passion till 14 or 15 [ILL] 1186, & then was turned out of the farm by the Deft who took passion. Mr. Bogle was [ILL] Deft was his Dewan; & I being a writer had continually Durbar business with Deft. On the day when Plf’s mehals were seized, I was with Deft in the place wre his private business was transd, when the offer of Goorgong &c were by a peon brought before him viz Ramhurry Bose, Gungadur Chowdry, Kissno persad Meter, Radamohun Ghose, SoCakun Duftary with all their papers. When they had made their salams & nazz[ILL] Deft sent for Hurry K. Bukshy & sd “These Mahals are now become mne do you go & manage them.” Accordingly he took [ILL] papers & people & made the collns &c. Joy Singh [ILL] gunge [fro] 17 Cartic to 25 Agr: - On 26 Agt: Deft took possn of that I myself heard the proclaim – by Tom Tom that the farms of Birjoo Roy were now become the farms of Ramcr Munshy & when I came to the lodging of Joy Singh Khazanchy, Birjoo Roy’s Daroga of the Gunge told me that the Deft had [ILL] them out of the Gunge.
