The Ordinance.
Mr. Newman, Advocate for the Company now spoke in support of the Ordinance pass’d by the Governor-General and Council the 26th day of June 1780. This business had been adjourn’d from by the desire of Mr. Newman to give him time to prepare.
He observed the Preamble shew’d the utility and even necessity of this Ordinance. The Petitioners on the Petition of the Europeans are only Seventy Three. They are a small part of the European Inhabitants, as appears by the Numbers assembled in the Militia, which is One Thousand
