Beg Khawn I heard Zakariah say that by virtue of these papers the Begum claims the Estate of Shahbaz beg Khan or words to that effect alluding to the paper I have in my hand. I saw this paper at the Fouzdarry afterwards. I was sent for at the distance of three days Journey to the Fouzdarry when I was this paper I was sent for from my own house – what I said at the Fouzdarry was taken down in writing what I said before the Kazee was taken down in writing & under his seal.

Cross Examined
As to how I live God provides for all – I have farms about six corse to the southward of the Province of Behar the name of the place is Saumee – it descended from my family – I received a share – I was the servant of Shah baz beg Khawn for 7 years certainly there were papers in my hand relating to his Estate when he died: There were no papers in my possession at the time of the death of Shahbaz beg Khawn relating to his Estate – I was his Moonshee I wrote his Letters – I was not his Dewan – I did not understand that you meant such papers – I understand by your asking whether I had any papers that you meant to ask whether having been long a servant of Shahbaz beg Khawn. I was not worth something. There were no papers relating to the Estate of Shah baz beg Khan whether copies or drafts in my possession at the time of the death of Shahbaz beg Khawn whether copies or drafts in my possession at the time of the death of Shah baz beg Khawn. It is not affixed custom to write copies on paper speckled with Gold – If you are a great man you will desire me to take a copy on paper speckled with Gold – I remained in the stable which was near the Dewan Cauna at the time the Kazee sent to the Begum to demand such papers as she had & as to my givingEvidence of what passed on that occasion never came to me from time to
