The affidavit now filed was not read in Court nor was the Defendant now present in Court. The other affidavits, with other Gazettes annexed published after the first Indictment for a Libel against Warren Hastings Governor-General had been found by the Grand Jury, were read in open Court while Hicky was present, and he was told he might if he would take copies and answer the affidavits by affidavits of his own.
