Sir Paul Jodrell, Would not submit his character and the character of his Lady, to the Trial of the Managers of the Madras Publick Rooms, but he has applied to the Laws of his Country.
The first notice sir Paul Jodrell had of the aspersions on his Character, was the sight of the Madras Courier dated October 21st 1789.
He afterward saw a much more violent Libel in the “Asiatick Mirror” publish’d in Bengal, which determined him to prosecute here, rather than at Madras.
