Mr. Davies read a copy of a letter, which he said has been sent to Mr. Dane, and which informed him that he was to be sent home to Europe, and that in the mean time he must remain in custody of the Town Major till he should give security to transport himself home on the first Compy’s ship.

The fact being such as Mr. Davies had stated, Mr. Duane was advised to apply for another Writ of Habeas Corpus addressed to Ja: Cosmo Gordon Esq, who is the Town Major abovementioned, and accordingly a Writ of Hab: Corpus so directed was issued by Order of Sir William Jones.
