1782 1 Sittings [Monday] Feb. 4
It had been now intended to be tried, but the Parties consented that Mr. Petrie only should be examined, and his Deposition taken by the Clerk of the Depositions in the same was as at other Trials of Causes, and that when his Deposition, and the Cross Examination on it were completed the Cause should be adjourned to next Term.
Mr. Petrie is going to day on board the Company’s Ship the Earl of Dartmouth – Captain Thomson, to said for England, which is the Reason for giving this Consent, and the Parties were not ready on either side, to go on with their Cause.
