The Plaintiff was formerly a Serjeant in the Company’s Military Service, and while he continued so, also kept a Bookseller’s Shop in the Old Fort, where he lived in the year 1774 when I arrived in Bengal, and he also kept a Circulating Library letting out Books to be re’d, both which Trades he now carries on in a House near the Riding House in Calcutta.
