Captain John Canning coming into Court Mr. Justice Hyde stopd his summing up to give the prisoner Casanavic an opportunity of examining him respecting his Character – Captain Canning says that he served on Board his Ship – he was a good seaman – brave in the face of an Enemy – sober and correct in discharge of his duty – never heard any thing ill of him – does not know any thing of him since he was discharge from his ship.
