[ILL] This becoming ineffectual by the loss of the goods, O. returned to Bengal, when it was agreed betw: them to settle their accots including as well as the ½ of money advd by O. as the ½ due [from] Da Costa of the bond to Herbert and Da Costa gave him security for both, deducting only 5000 for Deponent’s share of 5 Bales that were saved.
Besides the Mortge for CR 43500 58000 left in the hands of S. H. execd 14 June 1780, he gave O: a security by Mortge of 11 ships for 39000 S. R. which 2 sums, with the ½ of the bales saved, make up the Sum of 108000 & odd being the ½ of money adv: by O. & DaCosta’s ½ which O had undertaken to pay in England
