prisoner’s desire asks some questions.
The watch was in a glass case, but whether it was open or shut down at the time of the loss I can’t say. At night those cases are usually locked, but in the day time they are often left unlocked and even the lid not shut down.
The keys at ngiht were sometimes in the possession of myself or one of the ptners, sometimes in the hands of a Sercar, & sometimes left clerk, but never of a Sercar during the night. in the day time the same care [ILL] but this watch was in the glass
