thrust than the other. It was a deep wound. I cut it open and examined it after the woman’s death. I found that the wound diminished in Breadth the further it went in. It slanted upwards, through the Diaphragm, ended in the Thorax on the right side, and though I did not examine the Lungs, the wound becoming so small there that I could not easily trace it to the Lungs, yet I am sure it had entered them, from the emission of air that I perceived thro’ the wounds as I was dissecting it.
It did not appear to me that anything had been done to the wounds before I came, and when I arrived I thought all applications useless and hopeless. I stayed by her till her Death which happened in a few minutes after. She did not speak after my arrival & I suppose she could not.
Beside those two wounds there were four others, but I think the wound which I have described on the left side of her Belly must have caused her death; though she had also lost a considerable quantity of blood from the other wounds; particularly that under the left breast.
