The three prisoners, having been committed by a justice of the peace on a charge of robbery, were in the custody of the sheriff in the prison of Calcutta some time, I think, in March. Wheling and Burn continued in safe custody from the time of their commitment, but, the 24th of May, I missed Delany. I examined the sentries round the compound.
