When Gopal was gone the prisr threatened to beat us all if we did not make less noise.
The prisoner had come that very day to live in that house.
If he’d lived there longer he might have heard that noise.
The place where this beating happened is in a lane adjoining to the Bohu Bazar, & is in Calcutta
