the Jury that though this Girl was not a Slave yet she might be consider’d as a Servant to be subject to reasonable correction, and therefore in bringing in their Verdict they would consider whether the punishment proved to have been inflicted on the Prisoner was proper, even in case she had been a Slave, or proper for One Human Creature to inflict on another.
