Proceedings of the Council at Patna of the 3d April 1777 beginning at page 6 in their Book of proceedings. Received the following Arzee from Cawzy Mahomed Saadee, The Head Cauzy of the City.
In pursuance to your orders to me and the Muftees to make an Enequiry into the State of the Effects of Shabaz beg Khan Deceased, said to have been private carried away from his House, and embezzled, and to call upon the Slave Women for that purpose, We have repeatedly sent People to the Widow, demanding that the Slaves may appear before s, but she will not pay the least attention to it, and Hircarrahs are now Mohussels over her.
Agreed that as the Board have thought proper that such an Examination should be made; they do not now suffer their Orders to be Disputed, and that to put an End at once to this Affair, which has been already so after brought before the Board, a Guard of Sepoys be placed over the Widow,
