Owen J. Petruse was employed as Interpreter on the tryal of the Indictment just [ILL] Exhibit A produced to him – says it was produced to the Prisoner on the [ILL] tryal – when [ILL] his oath [ILL] that the signature to the writing marked A purporting to be his name was his handwriting – the name is written in the Bengal Character so is the whole of the [writing?] Witness is not perfectly acquainted with the Bengal Character but the writing being read to him by Nokool Bysack, witness made a true translation according [according?] to such reading of the whole writing including the names. – is well acquainted with the Bengal Language when read to him – reads the names, of which Ram Kisno Sonar the prisoner is one, the others are [ILL] Ram [Joica?] Sree Ramhurry Sonaar, all inhabitants of Begampoor on such tryal the present prosecutor [ILL] as the Defendant produced the last mentioned paper to the Prisoner who was a Witness against him and asked him whether the name Ram Kisno Sonaar was his hand writing, he sayd it was not his
