Prisr came up to me, & wrung my hand & exclaimed oh Serjt Newcomb! He had ot heard what was said about him. I then view’d him narrowly, & to the best of my belief I thought him distracted. I went away & did not hear of Hopkins’s being shot till the night following. I then said to Clark & Alba corporals (at Berhampur) what I saw not that I thought Middleditch was out of his senses. Prisr was a well behaved man, & I never heard of any ql wth Hopkins before this.
