Thomas Cotton by William Smoult his Attorney Complains of Alexander Davids on who is a Person subject to the Jurisdiction of this Honourable Court by Reason that the said Alexander Davidson is a British Subject residing in the Province of Bengal and an Inhabitant of the Town of Calcutta at Fort William in Bengal aforesaid of a Plea that he renders to the said Thomas Cotton the sum of Sicca rupees Twenty three thousand four hundred and ninety from five annas and six pice which he owes and unjustly detains from him for this to wit. That Whereas the said Alexander Davidson on the fifteenth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and ninety at Fort William to wit by his certain writing obligatory sealed with the seal Alexander Davidson and to this Honourable Court now here shewn the date whereof is the same date and year aforesaid acknowleged himself to be held and firmly bound to the said Thomas Cotton in the said sum of Sicca Rupee Twenty three thousand four hundred and Ninety from five annas and six pice to be paid to the said Thomas Cotton When he the said Alexander Davidson should be thereunto required.
