Cross examined.
When Ramrooder and the man called Seebnaut came to me to have the bond executed, I had a writer in my office named Buddin. I cannot say that Buddin did not go to Mr. Brampton: he might have gone. My instructions to go were given to Mr. Hall my head clerk was Mr. James Tailor Buddin, I believe, is living. I can not say positively, that he is in Calcutta. Neither Ramrooder nor the other man showed any reluctance to go to Mr. Brampton’s: they went willingly. When I told Prisoner that I had heard the demand was unjust & the transaction fraudulent, the Prisoner showed no terror of apprehension but said coolly what I have related. I am sure Mir Nazam uddeen was one of the names mentioned to me as a person to whom the money was due: I do not positively remember any other name.
