1778. Sittings. [Tuesday] March 31st.

A Copy of the Certificate within mention’d.
To all whom it may concern this is to certify that We Warren Hastings Esquire, President &c Council of Fort William in Bengal did on the seventeenth Day of January last cause to be put up to Publick Sale at the old Play House in Calcutta by Robert Dobinson Auctioneer to the Honourable Company The Cutwally with it’s appurtenances agreeable to the Plan delivered situated in the Great Bazar near the Nabob’s House. And that the whole were then and there purchased by Gocul Meter for the sum of Current Rupees Five thousand five hundred thirty five (CRs 5535) which we do hereby acknowledge to have received of him. In Consequence of which the said Cutwally and all its appurtenances were this day delivered over to the said Gocul Metter, and we do for and on behalf of the Hon’ble United East India Company by their present indemnify the said Gocul Meter his Heirs, Executors, administrators and and assigns from all Claims that may hereafter be made by any Person or Persons for the same (save and except the Customary Ground Rent to be paid to the Honourabe Company) the said Premise being now become the sole right and property of the aforesaid Gocul Meter. In Witness whereof we have hereunto Sett our Hands in Calcutta
