I was here, when the court determined that Ghulam should be remanded. After that determination I do not remember all that Mr. Tolfrey said to Ghulam, but I remember a word or two or two on the day of that determination. I was on the outside of that judges’ room, Mr. Church was there and Ramlochurn Munshi and Mr. Tolfrey spoke to Ghulam in Persian which I did not understand: I suppose it Persian, as Ghulam did not understand English.
Q. Did Mr. Tolfrey inform Ghulam, that he had had no relief but to apply to the Governor and Council?
A. I did not hear Mr. Tolfrey say so, but Ghulam informed me, that Mr. Tolfrey had said so.
Q. Did Mr. Tolfrey or Ramlochurn Munshi say to Ghulam “you must give your consent large fees for drawing such a petition.
A. I did not hear either of them say so.
