An Action of Assault and Battery.
The Plaintiff is a rich Banyan. Some People say he is of the low Cast call’d Saow, or Arrack Makers, but this he denied, though he does not pretend to be a Man of a very high Cast.
Mr. Cottrell is a member of the Council of Commerce, and is also Import Ware House Keeper.
The Plaintiff did not attempt to prove any violent personal hurt, but the injury he complain’d of, arose from the insult received by a Blow on the Shoulder with a walking Cane.
We heard all the Evidence for the Plaintiff, and then adjourn’d the Cause till to morrow.
