Defendants on 16th Feby last I went with both the Defendants about1/2 after 1 oClock to Mr. Tylers house to point out to the Defendants the persons of Mr. Tyler & Mr. Griffin. I pointed out Mr. Tyler first being [ILL] person I know. Redt Deatker took Mr. Tyler into custody and told him that he was [ILL] some time afterwards I pointed out Mr. Griffin – at first I did not know him when I pointed out Mr. Griffin to Fredt Deatker. I told him that was the other Defendant who had assaulted Edwards in consequence of that Fredt Deatker went up to Mr. Griffin and arrested him. Fredt Deatker went to the house for the purpose of arresting Mr. Barnet when Fredt Deatker took Mr. Tyler in custody there were 6 or 7 Gentlemen in the room who seemed to be much surprized and wanted to know for what reason Mr. Tyler was arrested Fredt told them that he came from Mr. Justice Hyde [ILL] that he would shew them his reason for arresting him if they would be peaceable & quiet. Mr. Tyler in consequence called to the Gentlemen desiring they would be peaceable & quiet during the time Mr. Tyler was 1st in custody of the Sepoys. Mr. Griffin was not then arrested – there was a deal of noise the Gentlemen got up & came out of a private room – when Mr. Griffin was arrested the Defendant Fredt Deatker did not take him to Mr. Hyde’s Mr. Tyler passed
