Ayr Shire. He is my Slave (Alexander Miller says) 2d August at Ten at Night, I found he was not at home, I suspected he had stole some thing. 2 Gold Mohurs 2 Rupees, found them safe. The next Morning open the bureau, miss’d 12 Gold Mohurs put in on Friday 69 Gold Mohurs found the key in it’s place, in my breeches Pocket. Sunday he was taken, in a Boutique. Ten Gold Mohurs were return’d he said the Cook (Nione) had the other two.

August 3d I came to my master’s house, Mr. Millar’s. He said his Boy had run away, and I must go to search for him. I, and Nemoo a Kasmutgar did so. Nemoo desired his Master would take the Cook with him. Mr. Millar threatned the Cook if he would not tell where the boy was. The Cook took me to a Shop in a Lane in the Mutchoo Bazar, we found the boy there, I ask’d the boy why are you here? the boy said last night the Cook cut the Iron off my Leg and therefore for fear I ran away. I ask’d where are the Gold Mohurs you brought, or whatever
