1778. Sessions. [Friday] Dec. 11.

Chariot with his drawn Sword to defend himself, and wounded some of them with his Sword, and his Sword broke, and he pursued another into Mr. Barton’s Garden, and while he was pursuing him he received a Shot in his Face which he believes was by a Pistol Loaded with Gravel: That he went up to the door of Mr. Barton’s house, and saw in the house above thirty Black-Men, Scissees and other Servants. This was about One o’Clock in the night.
Mr. Barton, after two or three times being ask’d, order’d the door to be open’d, and when Mr. Vanden Veldon got in he saw the Servants, who appear’d in a great fright.
Other Witnesses swore positively to Seven of the Defendants being present and active in the assaults.
The Jury found Four of the Prisoners Not Guilty. The other Seven they found Not Guilty, on the First Count, Guilty, on the Second. Those Found Guilty, were 1 Gholam Hussain, Seise. 2. Peer Mahommed, Jemmatdar. 3. Ulidad, Seise. 4. Bechoo Seise. 5. Seewarre, Seise. 6. Mahommed Tucki, Taylor. 7. Aukel, Seise.
