Mr. Newman, Open’d the Action to be for many oppressions, exercised by the Defendant under the protection of being Dewan to Mr. Higginson who was then Chief of Burdwan, to which the District of Beerboom is annexed.
One of the oppressions was, that the Defendant insisted on buying all the Iron made in the District of Beerboom, and when it was brought to him, he enter’d himself Debtor to the Iron Merchant, who had dug the Ore, half the usual Market Price at that Place, and then compell’d the Merchants to take back their own Iron from him at the usual Market Price, by which he gains
