1789. First Sittings. [Monday] Feb 16.

They alledge the arrears of One Year were offer’d to their Agent: they do not name their Agent. They were directed to produce their accounts, but they never were promised payment of the balances.
The Bill to enable the Complainants to recover ought to have stated that the promise to pay was in writing, for it is clearly an undertaking for the Debt of another, and by the Statute there must be a writing.
