1778. 1 Term. [Tuesday] Jan: 20th.

Tuesday Jan: 20th 1778.
Mr. Morse. Moved for Ten Days time to plead in the Causes against Mr. Peat, mention’d yesterday. A rule to shew cause was agreed to have been granted by the Court, consisting of Impey & Hyde only present, for Ten Days time, but Jarrett consented to the Defendant having that time, on his taking notice now of Trial for the Last cause in the Sittings, and agreeing to give Judgment as of this Term.
Therefore in all the three causes Rules were made for Ten Days time to give the notices of Jurisdiction in those cause.

Mr. Uvedale; Attorney for the Defendant, in a cause, moved the Court (although there were five Advocates present) for leave to withdraw the Plea of Non-Assumpsit, and plead Not Guilty, the action being Trover.
Mr. Uvedale stated the reason of his desiring to make this motion himself, to be, that although it was a motion of course, yet no Advocate present would make the motion because they had lately come to a sett of Resolutions one of which was, not to take any brief for any motion or other business that was not sent to them night before.
