Cross Examination of Govinde Dass
begun on 21. Jany 1791.
The firm of the house is Gopal Dass and Monohur Dass & Kisswer Dass is the name of a brother of Gopal who died 25 or 30 years ago & his successor is Duarcah Dass. Gopal is also dead, & before his death divided the property between his children & gave one share to Duarcah. The eldest son of Gopal is Monohur, The next is Duarcah, the next is Gocul & there are two more sons who are children in all 5. I don’t know whether Gocul or the two children have any share. Qu. if there be not some mistake [ILL] the children of Gopal & of [ILL].
I never saw Duarcah Dass he resides at Benares. Gopal at the time of his death gave the banking house at Moorshedabad to Duarcah Dass; at the time of his death Monohur was in Calcutta, he has no share in the house at Moorshedabad. The money was received & paid at the Moorshedabad banking house.
The death of Gopal happened 4 or 5 years ago.
Witness then relates the establishment of the Coty at Moidapur, in like manner as when examined directly.
When Nilmunny signed Exhibit C he was under a guard of Sepahies but not placed over him at the instance of Plaintiffs.
