Saturday 5 February 1791.
against Matthew Dawson Esq.
Trial
done on the subject of that sum of 7100 Rupees.
Afterwards they began to talk on the subject of the 4000 Rupees mentioned in Exhibit /C/ under the head of Error, and of the sum of 1,005 Rupees relative to Dinanaut Baboo.
I desired the Plaintiffs people to deduct the 4000 Rupees error and the 1005 Rupees relative to Dinanaut Baboo. They refused, & said that they had advanced from the Kootee a sum of 4900 & odd Rupees, if they are allowed to charge this sum in the account they would then deduct the sum of 5005 Rupees, composed of 4000 Rupees & 1005 Rupees.
I then desired Plaintiffs people to deduct on my request that sum of 5005 Rupees, adding that if they had a right to that sum they might afterwards recover it,” for I wished to see how the sum of Seventy thousand five hundred & odd Rupees would agree with the balance of the accost produced by Defendant’s people & now marked Exhibit No 20. They did so accordingly, and they also deducted an Item mentioned in the accot (Exhibit No 22) amounting to 108 Rupees advanced on account of Mr. Fendall. They then cast up their account, I mean the Plaintiffs people cast up their account (Exhibit No 22) and it then nearly agreed in the balance with the accot of Defendants people marked (Exhibit No 20.)
