Mr. Davies, Advocate Genl for the E. I. Company, and Mr. Burroughs the Company’s second Advocate argued in support of the return. They agreed with the Counsel for Mr. Duane in all they had said concerning Magna Charta and the hereditary rights of Englishmen, but they maintained that, without any violation of those rights, the King & Parlt of Gr: Britain might prohibit, as they have in fact prohibited, all Brit: Subjects from trading to or residing in the E. Indies, unless by the
