also in the name of Kisno Persaud, and he read particularly an article of about three thousand Rupees Received from some Englishman, I think Mr. Guinand, and also articles of Receipts of money from the Khalsa for Mr. Rous which articles were also put to the credit of Kisno Persaud. He said he only knew when the money was paid for Mr. Rous, by Mr. Rous sending the English Receipts for the money. He said he kept no separate account belonging to Mr. Rous. The account between Juggutram and Mr. Rous, was not kept by him.

I [John Hyde] think this Evidence with that of Juggutram taken togather, does throw strong suspicion on Rous, and am far from thinking what Juggutram said that it was given to him, fully clears Mr. Rous, for he was not press’d with the Question whether he accounted with Mr. Rous for this money, and or any part of it. The object of the examination was not an Inquiry into the conduct of Mr. Rous, but to know whether it was a lawful payment such as ought to be allowed between the Parties.
