Cross Examined by Prosecutor.
I never before gave evidence in a court of justice.
The prosecutor being asked why he subpoena’d the witness, if he thought him capable of perjury, answers: “He knew of my being confined, and I therefore subpoenaed him, but afterward I heard he had forsworn himself before Mr. Motte in the business of Cantoo Baboo, I therefore, did not call him.”
Witness: I never was confined in Calcutta or any where else.
