In the last [Bhadrn?] at Burhampur, on the holiday of Moharrem, I stood near Cokun Singh, when Bhowani a Sepoy gave a cut to Futty Mohammed: Cokun exclaimed Doay. Jagannath then advanced with his sword drawn and cut off Cokun’s hand. Jagannath ran away; Cokun followed, and knocked him down by a blow on the head with a stick which he held in his right hand. The blow was on the top of the head: Jagannath was a little man. I saw the blow given on the top of the head nearer the forehead than the back part of it. Jagannath instantly fell.
