The Plaintiff was sent for by two Peons and when he came to the Cutcherry was told by Jebarry that he must pay about Twelve thousand Rupees for the Revenue of a Certain District in the Purgunnah of Boro in Bengal. No demand had been previously given of made of this sum. He answer’d he did not owe any thing either as Principal or Security. Nevertheless he was confined. They refused a deposit of money as security. They refused good bail. On an application for a Writ of Habeas Corpus before the Return was made during the time given to prepare
