1777. Sittings. [Friday] Nov. 28th.
this I am far from being certain. If Westminster is always written I should be of opinion it means the place where the Court sits and this when I have leisure, if I ever live to that happy time, I intend to look into that and many much more important Questions, and to write for the benefit of my successors, the result of my inquiries.
The treatment of the Plaintiff in this cause was not so casual as in the case of Kausinaut tried on the 26th and therefore we thought it sufficient to give Judgment for the Plaintiff with Dammages 1000 Arcot Rupees.

Hurry Deb Roy
v
Bowanny Bose
This was another cause of the like kind as the preceeding causes. The Witness being question’d as the circumstances of the Defendant respecting his Riches and how much he got by his Office: said he had fifteen Rupees a Month Wages: that though it was not his business he used to sit in the Cutcherry: that “he used to do nothing in the Cutcherry, if he got nothing” This means, he never decided a cause without a Bribe.
Dammages. Four Hundred Arcot Rupees.
