1778. 4 Term. [Monday] Nov. 16.

the Orders Issued by Mr. Playdell to take the Defendant among others who were charged with receiving stolen Goods.
The Defendant in the Present Cause shew’d the Proceedings before Mr. Playdell.
The Court were satisfied nothing was done intentionally wrong.
We all readily concurr’d in giving
Dammages - - - - 1 S: R.
Costs - - - - - - - - 1 Sicca. R. only.
After the Cause was over, Impey at my suggestion, said, that now the Office of the Super-Intendant of Police was legally establish’d, if actions were brought against him or his Officers and they proved they acted according to their authority, there would be Judgment for the Defendant, and then the Plaintiff must pay Costs.
