Ramcaunt Moonshee} the Plaintiff being duly Sworn deposeth – Guns at Rungpoor. I went there in May 1779. Mr. Purling was then Chief – I was Mr. Purling’s Assistant. The Signature to the paper now produced & shewn to me at this the time of my Examination, marked with the Letter A, is my Signature; [ILL] the Seal affixed thereto is the Seal of the Collector at Rungpoor. This paper is a Purwannah directed to Oudenarain the [ILL] of Martezagunge to acquaint him on what day the Collections are to begin & requiring him to attend the Poonah. The Seal affixed to the Paper now produced & shewn to me at this the time of my Examination, marked with the Letter B, is the Seal of the Company’s Khalsa. – I was acquainted with Mr. Hastings; I have seen him write, I am acquainted with his hand writing, and I am sure the Signature to the Paper marked B is Mr. Hastings’s signature. After the settlement of Rungpoor had been made this Paper B is the Confirmation Sunnud sent from Calcutta for the Particular place mentioned in it. It
