gives the person immediate possession & a right to hold the farm for the time and on the Conditions mentioned. The name of Warren Hastings subscribed to the paper B means Mr. Warren Hastings the late Governor General of Bengal. I continued at Rungpoor till April 1784. The farms held by Pudinarain were very extensive. I do not know them to be Plf’s Pudinarain was removed by Mr. Bogle in Consequence of a heavy balance incurred. If you call upon me for specific proof of this fact I cannot give it you, but I know it to be a fact as I was there at the time. Give me leave to explain myself: on the Complaint of there being heavy balances, a [ILL] was appointed by Mr. Bogle. A man cannot be a [ILL] unless he has a written appointment. I cannot tell you the Exact amount of the farms Pudinarain held, but I believe they amounted to 2, or 3, lacks of Rupees. I cannot particularly say whether any balance was due on Murtezagunge at the time Mr. Purling went away whatever balance was due from Oudenarain, for the farms of which he was dispossessed, will appear in the Books of the Cutcherry.
