An Account of advances for Iron deliver’d.
One of the Articles in Exhibit B in this Cause is “Balance of Rent on the Farm of Iron to the year 1183 - - - 103: 4: 1.” In the defence it was said, this was Money extorted on pretence of a Monopoly of Iron. Impey said, “I do not know that the Company may have a Monopoly more than other Persons.” Halsey who was a Witness in the Cause, on the side of the Plaintiff, said it was not a Monopoly but the Company’s Revenue.
The Transactions on which this Cause arose were in the District of Beerboom, in the Province of Burdwan. A great deal of Iron is made in Beerboom.
A Witness
