by Mr. Newman, now the Company’s Advocate and Advocate for the Defendant in this Cause; that Mr. Pritchard was employ’d by the Company, that he did the business in his Bill: Mr. Newman also admitted the Facts contain’d in a Letter from Mr. George Bogle, the Commissioner of Law Suits, lately appointed by the Governor-General and Council with a Salary of (I think) 1200 Rupees a Month; to the Governor-General and Council, in which Letter Mr. Bogle says, that Mr. Farrar had look’d over this Bill by order of the Governor General and Council, that Mr. Farrar had said it was a reasonable Bill.
Mr. Newman also admitted that Mr. Farrar (now gone to England) had said it was a reasonable Bill: that Mr. Farrar knew of the business done and was, at the time of the business done, the Company’s Advocate, though he was not so at the time of his saying the Bill was reasonable, but only was consulted on that particular occasion: He admitted too, that Mr. Farrar had been bred an Attorney. Impey and I, Chambers not being then come; agreed this Proof was sufficient, and gave the amount of the Bill, - - - Damages 2458 Sicca Rupees,
