a soldier, I kept a little place at Madras & sold wine, (as liquor there was no liberty of liquor) since I came here I have sold nothing, but have a little room of my own below the new bazar, I mend shirts & make petticoats & the like.
I met with Mr. Winwood in Calcutta, & he invited to come & stay with him & his girl. I went there the very night before this quarrel happened.
