The prisoner, who is a Major in the Company’s Service, is indicted for killing Mr. Henry Graham in the Service of the King.
The Indictment is in these words –
The Jurors of our Lord the King upon their oath present that George Mence late of Seerpoore Chokay near [Dinapore?] in the Province of Bahar, not having the fear of God before his Eyes but being moved and seduced by the instigation of the Devil on the second day of October in the twenty sixth year of the Reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven with force and arms at
