1780. Sessions. [Saturday] June 10.
arranged on the [ILL], as the Sheriff Mr. Vanrixtel, or rather as the Deputy Sheriff Mr. Harry Stark had thought proper, and were not placed in Alphabetical order, as has lately been done at other Sessions. This was done in consequence of directions given in Court to the Deputy Sheriff, at the last Sessions in December 1779 in consequence of the then Grand Jury insisting on choosing their fore-man.
Mr. Herbert Harris, whose name stood the first of those who appear’d on the Oath being tendred to him, took the Oath of the Fore-Man without the least contest, and the other twenty two Grand Jurors who were call’d took their Oaths [ILL] Grand Jurors without the least [hesitation?]
We expected [ILL] would again have insisted on [ILL] a right to elect their Fore-Man [ILL] and it had been settled a few [days?] ago, by the assent of all of us, Impey, Chambers, and Hyde, to make [ILL] contest with them, but to give [ILL] to them
