given by the Defendant to the Witnesses in getting them turn’d out of employments in the Police Office, and from other Circumstances, the Court disbelieved the Witnesses for the Plaintiff. Four Witnesses for the Plaintiff were examined, and about Seven for the Defendant. The Cause lasted till Seven o’Clock in the Evening.
Judgment for the Defendant. Three of the Witnesses for the Plaintiff were committed to Prison, by the Court, charged with attempting to suborn Men to commit Perjury in this Cause, two of the Witnesses for the Defendant having in their Evidence, charged them with attempting to bribe them to swear the same they have sworn for the Plaintiff.
