Commanding the Bengal Detachment at Bombay.

We think it propwer to add the following Instructions to those which we have already given you under date the 10th April.
In a letter dated 20th April 1780 we directed General Goddard to reduce the Regiment of Cavalry deeming its expence to be greatly beyond the proportion of any services which it is capable of performing. In reply he assigned such reasons for retaining that Corps as induced us on the 9th of October to suspend the order which we had given; but as these reasons which were derived from a State of very important and active service no longer exist We now think it proper to repeat to you our desire that this Corps may be wholly and immediately reduced upon your arrival at Bombay, or with the Detachment wherever it may be
